Audiovisual Presentation

Our ten-minute audiovisual presentation, “Portrait of Our Community,” will be shown continuously throughout the day in the video room adjacent to the Gray Barn at Heritage Farm.

Homestead Gristmill

A featured attraction at the Fair is our restored 1760’s gristmill, where we grind fresh flours and cornmeal.

In the mill room, watch as the water wheel–driven gears turn the gears which rotate the upper millstone that grinds dried corn kernels into fresh cornmeal.

On the west side of the mill, you can watch the overshot water wheel turn as the water flows over it from the flume. We rebuilt this wheel and flume when we restored the mill building.

Be sure to sample some of the baked goods made from the mill’s baking mixes. Just outside the front door, stop by the tasting tent—cinnamon streusel muffins, sweet potato muffins, gingerbread, oatmeal raisin cookies, apple cider cake donuts, fresh cornbread and cranberry pancakes are among the favorites.

Homestead Gristmill is open year-round.
