Make-Your-Own Projects

At the Make-Your-Own tent, you’ll be amazed at what you can do. With over two dozen projects catering to all ages and skill levels, you can make projects such as candle making, soap making, simple woodworking and fibercrafts. Our craftsmen and women will send you home with your unique creation and a real sense of accomplishment.

Hay Bale Maze

Set out on adventure with your kids in our hay maze! This is one of our longest running, classic Homestead Fair experiences. You’ll find laughs and family fun around every corner.

Petting Zoo

You and your kids will have a heartwarming time with our sweet little farm animals. From downy soft puppies to playful lambs and pygmy goats, you’ll want to spend your whole visit in our petting zoo!

Pony Rides

Riding a horse is a special experience. The gentle rhythm of the pony’s stride will inspire you, and fill your child with wonder. Altogether a wholesome and exciting activity for the whole family.

Farm Tour

Join one of our farmers for a 1 1/2 hour tour of our working farm. We’ll show you our sustainable farming methods and answer your questions.

Hands-On Milking

Ever wanted to hand-milk a cow? Join us each morning during the fair to learn “hands-on” how to hand milk and what it takes to care for a family milk cow.

Hay Rides

Take a hay ride to our scenic overlook, where you can take in a panoramic view of the farm below. Possibly the best photos of your visit will be found here.

Christmas Shopping

Explore handcrafted gifts and unique treasures. You’ll find toys, clothing, fine wood and metal craft, everything from home goods to fishing lures, all while watching the craftsmen do their work.

Sheep Herding Demonstration

If you attend only one demonstration at the fair, this is it. You’ll be spellbound as a well-trained sheepdog herds an unruly flock of sheep into a pen.

Historic Buildings Tour

Join historian Kevin Durkin for a walking tour of seven restored buildings at Brazos de Dios from the 17th and 18th centuries. We’ve relocated these from across the country  in an effort to preserve the good things of the past for the present and the future.

Barn Raising

Lend a hand, help raise a barn the way they were raised 300 years ago and take a step on a journey to restore lost essential skills.

Homesteading & Self-Sufficiency

From aspiring beginner to multi-generational homesteading expert, everyone can take away something valuable and inspiring from our seminars. You’ll learn the art of homesteading, homeschooling, sustainable gardening, and so much more. Discover the practical aspects of rural living, from milking cows to cultivating your own food sources, and see the interconnectedness of all things land-based.
