Our potters unloaded the first kiln load of Fair pottery this morning! Master potter Jenni Fritzlan shared this with us:
“Labor Day marked the beginning of our serious Fair preparations. We made 48 mugs, 5 large tea pitchers, 2 extra large pitchers, 4 tea pots, 8 small pitchers and several vases. That is, 3 of us made all that stuff, not just one of us! All of it took about 125 pounds of clay to make.
We also tried a new thing at our Labor Day Sorghum Festival this year that we hope to do at the Fair: we are planning to expand our Make-Your-Own projects to include wheel throwing! The trial run at the Sorghum Festival turned out to be a great success, both in popularity and as a fund raiser for the Fair.”
